Katie Wassell

Membership & Events Intern

Katie Wassell joined the British Omani Society in September 2025 as an Intern. She holds a BA in History and recently completed an MA in Development Studies at King’s College London, where she specialised in Middle Eastern politics and British foreign policy. Her postgraduate research explored how the UK’s diplomatic role and international positioning have been shaped by conflicts in the region, with a particular focus on the Palestinian-Israeli question.

Between her degrees, Katie undertook a year of solo travel, immersing herself in new cultures and gaining practical experience in the humanitarian sector while working at Malakasa Refugee Camp in Greece. This experience, combined with her academic training, strengthened her interest in the intersections of foreign policy, diplomacy, and humanitarian engagement, and encouraged her to pursue further research at the postgraduate level.

With a strong academic foundation in international relations and a career interest in the foreign policy and diplomatic spheres, Katie is eager to support the Society’s mission of cultural exchange and contribute to strengthening the historic ties between Britain and Oman.
