Jared Martin

Events and Programming Intern

Jared Martin joined the British Omani Society in September 2025 as Events and Programming Intern. Jared holds a BA in History and Politics and an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from Oxford University. During his MPhil, he completed intensive Arabic study and research on British imperial history in South Arabia.

During his time at university, Jared travelled to Jordan and Tunisia, where he completed an intensive course of Arabic language study and volunteered with an environmental NGO. He also worked within the editing team for the Oxford Middle East Review, a peer-reviewed, student-run journal focused on Middle East and North Africa affairs.

Beyond his studies, Jared was heavily involved in university sporting life, gaining a Blue for cross-country running, captaining the university cross-country club, chairing the Oxford University Sports Council, and co-organising Bannister Miles, a series of elite and mass participation miles with almost annual 2,000 participants.

With a passionate interest in the history, politics, and culture of the Arab world, and especially Oman, Jared is excited to contribute to the Society and its work in deepening Britain and Oman’s historic friendship.
