The British Omani Society, represented by Trustee Sheikh Ma'an Al-Rawahi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the 14th October 2025, in Muscat, with the Global College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) in Muscat. This commemorates the approval of a Society grant to support a bilateral student exchange programme between GCET and the University of the West of England (UWE), aimed at advancing academic collaboration and capacity-building in urban sustainability and climate resilience.

The initiative will enable fifteen students from each institution to participate in workshops and field visits in both Oman and the UK, fostering cross-cultural learning and practical engagement with sustainability challenges.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the British Embassy in Muscat, underscoring the importance of UK-Oman educational partnerships and the shared commitment to fostering innovation and knowledge exchange.

This partnership reflects the British Omani Society’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives that align with Oman Vision 2040 and promote long-term collaboration between UK and Omani institutions. We look forward to welcoming the first cohort of students and to the continued growth of this impactful exchange.
