Representing Oman at the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) 2025 was nothing short of life-changing. Being one of only five delegates selected to attend this global celebration of science, innovation, and cultural exchange was a tremendous honor. What I experienced in those two intense, exhilarating weeks in London has left an indelible mark on my academic ambitions, my confidence, and my vision for the future.

From the very first day, I was immersed in a vibrant world where science was more than just textbooks and theories — it was alive, dynamic, and deeply human. Attending lectures from world-class scientists was one of the most inspiring aspects of the forum. To sit in the same room as researchers who have made groundbreaking contributions to fields like quantum physics, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, and sustainability was humbling and empowering. Their stories — filled with trial, failure, perseverance, and success — made me realize that no scientific journey is linear, and every obstacle is part of the process.

The diversity of topics we explored made the forum uniquely enriching. Whether it was learning about cutting-edge cancer therapies, environmental engineering innovations, or the ethical challenges in emerging technologies, each lecture opened my mind to new possibilities. It was particularly motivating to see how science can be harnessed to address real-world issues — from water scarcity to climate change — something that resonates deeply with my passion for sustainability and renewable energy.

What made this experience even more unforgettable was that my own project was selected among the top 13 projects worldwide presented at the LIYSF Science Bazaar. To be recognized on such an international stage was both surreal and deeply validating. Presenting my work to students, professors, and science enthusiasts from across the globe pushed me to communicate clearly, answer challenging questions, and defend my ideas with confidence. It was a turning point — the moment I truly believed that my voice and ideas mattered in the global scientific community.

But LIYSF wasn’t just about science — it was about connection. Through cultural evenings, shared meals, and collaborative activities, I built friendships with students from dozens of countries. I learned to embrace unfamiliar cultures, share my own, and find common ground through curiosity and respect. These connections made every day more vibrant, and every goodbye more difficult.

I also had the chance to visit historic institutions like Oxford and cutting-edge laboratories across the UK. These visits made science feel tangible and alive, and gave me a glimpse into the kinds of institutions and innovations I hope to contribute to one day.

None of this would have been possible without the support of those who believed in me. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in Oman for giving me the opportunity to represent my country. My sincere thanks also go to the UK Embassy in Oman and Oman’s Embassy in London for their continuous support and facilitation throughout the program. Their efforts were instrumental in making this experience as smooth and enriching as it was.

LIYSF transformed me. I arrived unsure, nervous, and hesitant. I left more confident, inspired, and motivated than ever. It solidified my desire to pursue science not just as a subject, but as a lifelong mission — to contribute meaningfully, to innovate with purpose, and to connect across borders in the pursuit of knowledge.

If I had to sum up my LIYSF experience in one sentence, I would say: it was inspiring, transformative, and unforgettable — a milestone I will carry with me forever.
